I must say that the LPGA has to find a way to build on this Solheim thing. That was not only some compelling golf but the enthusiasm of everyone involved and the intensity needs to be bottled and sold. I have appreciated women's golf for several years now but there is something about this team format that is pure and watching the professionals get so into "playing for their country" was inspiring. I really hope that they can find a way to capitalize on this without loosing that same purity. Turning it all into some sort of money event would not have the same spirit and that is what makes it so special. But working to make the event more special with possibly a President's Cup equivalent would be the trick with alternating years so that there is always one of the two each year.
A side note: I have been hard on Michelle Wie the past couple of years. I am now a convert. Not only did she represent her self very well, it was great seeing her let her hair down and show her youth side. This was a great event and the cream rose to the top! Hurrah Michelle!
Before I leave this subject, this was great competition and the Europeans represented themselves well and that made the event even more compelling. The Americans have the advantage today but watch out! The tables could soon turn.
Go LPGA!!!!!!
