What a great testament to the theory of Strategy Golf! Matt Kucher managed game as well as anyone this past weekend to win. But he is not the only one that has won this year by managing his game better than the rest of the field. And what those journeymen like Paul Goydos that for some reason keep popping up near the top of the field. And then there is Jim Furyk. Talk about a guy that can manage his game to stay up with the big hitters. There is no one in golf today that is more consistent than Jim Furyck with the exception of Mr. Golf. Although he did not win this year, he was in the hunt virtually every time he teed it up. It is only a matter of time before he finally has that premiere season. But in the meantime, $5,000,000 a year isn't bad.
Amateurs could learn a lot from guys like Goydos and Furyk and now that guy named Kucher. Managing your game keeps you in position and keeping yourself in position is what eventually leads to wins. Yes, going for the green in two on that 580 yard par 5 but there is a lot to be said about always putting for birdie. Laying up for the easy chip sure makes sense. Especially for us weekend warriors who just want to shave off a few strokes so we can brag about that dropping handicap.
Put a pro in your pocket and start playing smart!
